Smokva (Ficus carica) cijenjeno je južno voće koje simbolizira život, mir, blagostanje i plodnost. Vjeruje se da potječe iz Egipta, odakle je stigla na Krit, a oko 9. stoljeća prije nove ere, u staru Grčku. Smokva je hrana pustinjaka i sveto drvo mnogih predaja. Stari Grci su je izrazito poštovali, u Rimu su je smatrali svetim voćem u čijoj sjeni se odmarala vučica koja je hranila Romula i Rema, a Adam i Eva su od listova smokve načinili sebi pregače. Smokva sadrži i do 80% vode, a istovremeno je voće s najvišom razinom prirodnih šećera. Izuzetan je izvor energije, potiče rad mozga, koncentraciju i pamćenje. Šipak, mogranj ili nar (Punica granatum) trnovit je grm koji uspijeva u priobalnim područjima s toplijom klimom. Biljka ima uspravne i razgranate grane, a stanište joj je osunčano s visokim temperaturama. Zahtijeva vodopropusno tlo, jer biljka ne voli mnogo vlage. Cvate bijelim, žutim ili crvenim cvijetom od lipnja do kolovoza. Veliki okrugli plod, izvana kožnat, a unutra ispunjen ukusnim sjemenkama, javlja se u kasnu jesen.
