HP Mostar / Europski dan jezika 2020. - European Day of Languages 2020

 Europski dan jezika obilježava se 26. rujna s ciljem vrjednovanja i promicanja svih jezika i kultura te očuvanja bogate baštine europskih jezika, kao i motiviranja ljudi za doživotno učenje većeg broja jezika. Kako bi se proslavila europska jezična raznolikost prvi put je obilježen 2001. godine i to na inicijativu Vijeća Europe i Europske unije. Na Zemlji živi oko 7 milijardi ljudi koji govore između 6.000 i 7.000 različitih jezika. Od toga je samo 3% autohtonih europskih jezika (oko 225).

Latinski jezik (lingua Latina) je jezik latinsko-faliskičkoga ogranka italske grane indoeuropske jezične porodice. Na početku povijesnog razdoblja govorio se u pokrajini Laciju (Latium) po kojoj je i dobio ime. Latinski je jezik klasične rimske književnosti, službeni jezik rimske države, Zapadne crkve, srednjovjekovne latinske književnosti, znanosti, školstva i javne uprave. Sve do 19. stoljeća bio je službeni jezik u nekim europskim zemljama. Danas se smatra važnim svjetskim jezikom koji se koristi u katoličkoj Crkvi, svim granama suvremene znanosti (posebno kao temelj medicine), kulturi i književnosti. Od svih svjetskih jezika latinski je najviše utjecao na druge jezike.

Hrvatska pošta Mostar izdala je prigodnu poštansku marku u arku od 10 maraka, žig i omotnicu prvoga dana (FDC).

European Day of Languages is celebrated on 26 September with the aim of valuing and promoting all languages and cultures and preserving the rich heritage of European languages, as well as motivating people for life-long learning of more languages. In order to celebrate European linguistic diversity, it was first marked in 2001 at the initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union. There are about 7 billion people living on Earth who speak between 6,000 and 7,000 different languages. Of these, only 3% are indigenous European languages (around 225).

The European Day of Languages is celebrated on September 26 with the aim of evaluation and Latin (lingua Latina) is the language of the Latin-Phallic branch of the Italian branch of the Indo-European language family. At the beginning of the historical period, it was spoken in the province of Lazio (Latium), after which it was named. Latin is the language of classical Roman literature, the official language of the Roman state, the Western Church, Medieval Latin literature, science, education, and public administration. Until the 19th century, it was the official language in some European countries. Today it is considered an important world language used in the Catholic Church, all branches of modern science (especially as the foundation of medicine), culture and literature. Of all the world's languages, Latin has had the greatest influence on other languages.

Croatian Post Mostar issued a commemorative postage stamp in a sheet of 10 stamps, a postmark and first day cover (FDC).
